Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

So, few days ago I attended a movie review thanks to @nuffnang!! Thank you over and over again as you let us bloggers gather, meet and be merry together. Such platforms are great for socializing and meeting people outside our normal daily lives.
Anyways, back to the story.

The movie screened is none other than "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark".

I entered the cinema with the expectation to get my socks knocked off, running home after the movie with my "tail between my legs". However, the movie did not live up to my expectations.

The storyline was a simple one. There is this big, huge beautiful 19th century mansion in Rhode Island. A father (Alex - by Guy Pearce), the girlfriend (Kim - by Katie Holmes) and the daughter (Sally- played by Bailee Madison) with 2 caretakers.

The house was "haunted" by these little creatures (do all gigantic houses get haunted?? one wonders) that looks a lot like mini-Voldermort. And every now and then, one live must be taken. They live on teeths and bones.

So the family moves into this mansion. Alex the architect and Kim the interior designer has work to do, putting all their financial securities at risk to rebuild this mansion, and later to sell it off to rich, wealthy people.
Mini-"one that must not be named" reached out to Sally, the little girl, trying to befriend her. Later on only to terrorize her and her family.

SO yea, it's not that scary and not too gruesome. But there were some intense moments and some funny moments. Some moments that made no sense. Like my friend @choulyew, whom I brought to watch this movie thanks to @churp2, I agree with her that the writer should have explained more about the creatures as it left me wondering what is it, what is its "real mission", why do they live in the holes etc.
And also like my other blogger friends, I do have to rate the movie to be less than 5/10.
