happy 21st birthday shaun

I celebrated my 21st birthday last week on 6th of September 2008 ...

Thank you guys sooooo much... I had never ever had so much fun+laughter in any of my holiday trips or camwhored like no ones business ...

where ??
IN MY OWN CITY => HISTORICAL CITY OF MALACCA

Seriously, it was my first time taking loads of photos (375 photos from moira, isaac, carol and priscilla) and more coming soon to my possession from loo ping and sarah ^^

Now, i'm kinda the walking camwhore already (but still finding my vocation :P)... while Moira is the walking calculator, Isaac is the walking bible and Calista the walking dictionary.

So how did it start off?
Friday evening at 4pm- Moira(from Teluk Intan;Perak), Isaac(from Sabah), Carol(from Sarawak) and Priscilla(from Penang) got onto a bus from Pudu Raya, Kuala Lumpur. I also boarded the bus at 4pm but we boarded different buses.

Destination??
MALACCA!!!

FRIDAY (PRE B'DAY)
I reached Malacca first and I went home to unpack and all, while "Fantastic 4, {F4}" took a light meal at A&W in Melaka Sentral. Well, F4 reserved Travellers Lodge, but they dont know how to get there... hmmm ...lol

So I came back to the bus station to pick them up to bring them "home". Upon getting there, F4 checked out the rooms and were unsatisfied with their accomodation. And according to standard "hotel" procedure, if u reserve, you have to pay. Well, being unsatisfied, F4 decided to flee, making them 'immigrants' in Malacca City...lolz

I got my mom's car and drove them to other accomodation place. After few searches and after my offer to crash at my place, F4 found a place... Comfortable Inn.
We then walked to Jonker Walk to survey the place before shopping begun.
My first 21st birthday song was sung at Jonker Street. ^^
Nothing much happen after that.... lolz..

SATURDAY(B'DAY)

All of us woke up about 10-11am ish. I went to Comfortable Inn to get F4. We first started off our journey to SFI. They loved my alma mater especially the school chapel. Apparently schools were having classes in order to have a longer holiday for Hari Raya.

We then headed to Jonker Street to have a taste of chicken rice ball. We went to the famous one, opposite OCBC, but many ppl larrr... so we headed to Famosa to eat chicken rice ball. The place is seriously scenic ... beautiful but the food is so-so lar.

Up next, F4 did some small shopping at Jonker. Then we headed to clock tower and St Pauls' hill and took some pictures. Then we headed to Dataran Pahlawan for tea. We sat at Old Town Coffee and I had my 2nd birthday song with a Starbucks cake.

FAST FOREWORD==>> After all that, we headed back to our places to get ready for mass. After mass, we had our dinner at Seoul Garden ^^ ... my 3rd and 4th bday song was sung there.
I met my brother VINCENT there (yay!!) .. lolz..

hmm... then at night we headed back to Jonker to do the real shopping...lolz
Night ended at a bar - opposite Geographer because the owner was singing songs... we saw it to be more lively...lolz. F4 requested a bday song to be sung to me... at12am; which is actually my cousins birthday... lolz ... only at 12.30am did I get my 5th birthday song...lolz .. After the drink, I think the alcohol [even though it was only one bottle each] got to their heads...lolz .. they sang the official closing birthday song of my 2 days birthday celebration... :P AT CLOCK TOWER...

So total birthday songs I had = 6songs...lolz ...
photos... alot(375 and growing) ...
videos... alot...5-6 I think...all on youtube.

I really enjoyed F4's company all throughout my weekend with the additional appearance by Loo Ping and Sarah at Seoul Garden ; not forgeting the presence of my LARGE family present for dinner too ... and FEATURING MY LIL BRO ;VINCE and NICHOLAS(aka archie) who dropped by to say HI!! , happy b'day...lolz. I really really enjoyed my birthday. AND TIRING ALSO!!!

SUNDAY (post b'day)
F4 went to revolving tower in the morning.... then they came over to my house for lunch...
Portuguese style^^ then balik to busy KL...

stability

I have been thinking about stability lately.
And this reminds me of one of the pillars that keeps and has kept great organizations intact, relevant, strong, untouched by time. The book I read was about the Benedictine order and its rule. Time and time again, the book stressed on stability and how the organization maintains that stability, how the monks living by the rule of Benedict promotes and guarantees stability within the order.
This bring me on to the question on what friendship and marriage is. Why the church stress on marriage and in fact elevates marriage to the honour of the altar, to call marriage a sacrament. And how we hope that friendships last, that friendships are true, that we be able to trust the people around us that we call friends. I realised that we mortals, each and everyone of us expect the best out of others. We expect others to be a true friend to us. But do we become the friend we want others to be?
The church teaches that marriage is instituted by God and promotes marriage between one man and one women. The church also teaches that marriage constitutes of one man and one women as it is dictated by the laws of nature. In addition to that, the church believes that marriage is indisoluable, therefore divorce is not permitable. I believe that the reason behind this, be it marriage comes from God or not, is that the institution, provides stability.
I believe that friendship provides, to a certain extent, stability.
The book that I read, the example given was the marine and the military. And the training they undergo is vigorous and the only thing that they can count on is on one another. The phrase 'never leave a man behind' should bring a ringing in your head right now. Anyway, it is this dependence that provides stability.
However, in this modern world, the importance of marriage has been disregarded. The government found a way to do away with marriage, thus introducing divorce. Friendship has not much value as more and more people are "self reliant" and friendship only comes in after self importance.
I don't think I believe in the stability marriage provides anymore. I don't think friendships are built to last. And for this reason, I think, my desire is NOT marriage. I don't look forward to it. My family, my ENTIRE CATHOLIC family, knows the possibility of me not getting married. But they don't know the reason behind it. They still think that I might join the priesthood. I dont know, maybe I wont, maybe I will but at this moment in time, my stand is that I wont marry and will not join the priesthood, because marriage does not, in my opinion provide the stability that I want while the priesthood is not my vocation.
Disclaimer: no one was hurt during the composition of this thought. This composition is in no way an endorsement of a lifestyle, not the official teachings of the Roman Catholic faith, and free from any political, religious, scientific point of view. I left out few thoughts here so that I do not offend, be biased, or present any religious or political point of view that would jeopardize myself as a Roman Catholic,Christian.

A peek into the last quarter of my holidays

So here I am once again pouring out my thoughts, experiences and things that I did in the past weeks.
I was in USM for Natcon from the 20th till the 26th June 2008, skipping my cousins wedding. All in all, the convention was great. I managed to learn many things, of which I forgot a huge part of it ^^ and also managed to make many new friends. Forgive me if I still can't remember your name >.<
Next stop was Cameron Highlands on the 30th June 2008. The journey itself was tiring, however, sweet memories prevailed. Mandy, Eunice, Raam and I managed to meet great, humble, sweet and nice people in Cameron. There was the Indian guy that worked at the strawberry farm, there was this nice Malay lady working at the vegetable market, and this group of Thailand citizen that gave us a lift from the vegetable market to Tanah Rata bus station. They also gave us "Cameron apples" ... lolz ... Our journey was humbling, thoughtful and serene.
Holiday is ending and 'depression' and fear is kicking in. I have yet to settle my time table as I have some jugling of classes to do. I pray and I hope that I will have to strength and enthusiasm to drive change in my life.
As for my personal life, my lil bro (vince) came over to my house on Wednesday(2/7/08) to get the form 6 books from me. He has decided to leave Taylors (TUC) and chosed the form 6 path instead.
Worrying that I do not fulfill my 'promise' to my junior in form 6 - that I will find the time to visit and try to spend some time- on Thursday I showed up at my alma mater, Malacca High School, to spend meet my junior and my bro. I was happy to see them and also to see many familiar faces there. (I dont see any familiar faces in SFI anymore) I also managed to spend some time with both Vince and Chun Yian, but not quality time I would say.
Many things has happen during this past 2 months of holiday. I rested, I worked, I spoilt my biological clock and many more... Some things has taught me more than the other but at this very moment, I cannot recall.
But what is going through my mind at this moment is how to mend things up with my bro, Vince. Brothers argue and give cold treatments to one another. Thats normal. But this time I am in the wrong. So, I'm sorry.

Dignity of the human person is the foundation of respect

Few days ago, I came across an article. The story goes like this.

This man, after losing his Baptism certificate, decided to contact the parish priest to get a new copy. The priest took some time finding it for him, then decides to call him back to let him know that his batism certificate was ready. The man then went to collect the certificate. Unable to meet the man, the priest then decided to give the gardener to hand the certificate to the man instead. The man then decides to get angry at the priest and wrote to The Herald (catholic weekly newspaper). The man argued that the his baptism certificate was seen as something worthless because the priest had no time to hand it over to him personally and had to get it from a mere GARDENER.

The answer from the columnist was that he was wrong to look down on the gardener. And that a dog can be trained to hand over a document to him.

Respect comes from the dignity of the human person and NOT from his occupation. A person should not be respected because he or she is a doctor, a lawyer, a priest, a religious, a prime minister or whatever position one holds. Even if he is the pope. Occupation does not in any way define who a person is or even speak of the person. That is a FACT. No one should be treated with disrespect due to his or her job. That is a FACT. A job is NOT life. That is a FACT. A job is NOT the person. That is a FACT. And facts leave no room for possibilities.

A person must be respected because of who he/she. A person must be respected because everyone is born with the dignity of a human person. A person must be respected because with everyone is born in the image of God and is a child of God.

This is the minimum respect that a person should get from anyone else. To be treated with dignity.

I know that society places pressure on people. I know that these pressures gives false impression of things, and it is these pressures that make worldly things godly. Wrong perception that lies to us saying, smart kids go to universities and earn big money, hold high offices in society, driving big cars and owning magnanimous houses and properties. These are LIES people!! LIES I tell you.

So step back and think. Reflect. If you were from the "lower strata" of society, would you be offended? I surely would be.

Work

So yesterday was my first day of work at Unisys. My work there is to clear cheques that come in via computer. It's easy yet tiring because I worked long hours. Well, I guess it's better than working at Sudong!! Getting paid RM7/hour is not bad ... lolz!!

I'm supposed to start work 2 weeks ago but Bank Negara hadn't cleared the way till few days back. This temporary job was supposed to have a contract of 2 weeks. However, due to unforseen circumstances, Adecco had to find ad hoc temporary workers for Unisys. Well, I still have about 3 weeks of holidays but I'm having an AIESEC conference in Penang next week. So I cannot work for the whole 2 weeks. Adecco staff said it's ok.

Hope to get some pics of my 'office' but not too sure if they'll let me take any pics. It is afterall a place that handles cheques. BIG AMOUNT cheques as well as very small amount cheques.

Came across Soon Kit's blog. He recently put up an inspiring post. Below is an excerpt,( a poem/some words of wisdom? to be exact)

Never think today is just yesterday’s tomorrow.
Today isn’t just another day.
Live today as if there is no tomorrow.
Always let today be a day to remember.
Go and make your day.

Outings on a wednesday afternoon

So yea, went out to MP yesterday with Ann Chee, Raam and Eunice... It's been long since we last met. We decided to have lunch together then watch a movie. Raam, Eunice and Ann Chee arrived at MP before me and they had decided to go to Pizza Hut for lunch. I came a while later..
So, nothing much happened there... we ate and talked and talked and talked. The bread sticks came together with the soup, however it was hard...not nice :S ... So anyway, we whacked everything lar ..lol ... We ordered the Thai seafood, I think ..not too sure ... it was great, not bad... have been eating KFC and Pizza Hut quite often till to the brim of getting "jelak" of it. Hmm... our conversation ... private and confidential ??? lolz .. nothing lar ...all boring stuff ... not interesting for u guys to know..lol ...

Next we headed to the cinema. We watched Superheroes. Well, from the advertisement, it looks cool to watch... well I must admit that it was funny at certain moment...but the producers kept doing the same mistake to make a joke die off ... they prolong certain parts mainly on the jokes ... which is a bad idea. It's a lil funny here and there but copying 'totally' from spiderman makes it a BAD movie ... with attractive advertisement... Well, for a RM6 movie, I think its ok ... but not worth watching it if it was RM10 or more, period!!! But there were some people(most of them actually) that clearly didn't understand English (benefit of the doubt-they understood a little) came to watch as well ... my friends and I laughed at certain parts, dirty jokes and all ... and the whole cinema was quiet ...

After that movie, we hanged around at BUM City for a lil while ....then went for the next movie...
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I enjoyed the movie very much. I liked the graphics, I like the idea of combined mysticism and royalty, very grandeur in nature, the costumes, the sceneries and magic (>.<) And for this movie... RM6 is TOTALLY worth watching ... well..It's Wednesday therefore cheaper cinema tickets. :) The only thing that I hated was there was a group of Indian guys right behind ... I believe that they don't understand English so were not interested in the movie...VERY VERY VERY idiotic actually ... because they didnt switch off their phones although it rang a few times, and kept receiveing smses without silencing it ... I felt like shouting at them, asking them to turn off their phones... all the way my mind were thinking " these malaccan's are uncivillized, stupid ppl" ... True enough, they left when the movie was nearly ending... They should have left MUCH MUCH earlier !!! Raam said to me, "Dunno which estate they came from " ... lolz ... such a low life ...

After our 2nd show, we planned to eat at Ken Ong's shop for dinner, but it was closed. So we went to Wok and Pan instead. We ate... and thats it lar... more conversations took place... NOT UP FOR DISCUSSIONS here... lol ... We left there at 8 something. Ann Chee and Eunice went home first.

Raam and I went to DP for a lil while, I wanted to go to the shop that I bought my coat. Needed to get the suit casing ... We passed through Padini to see if Valerie was there. Too bad, she wasn't. Then crossed over to MP once again to go to MPH. I wanted to look at some motivational books...I looked at 2 books that caught my eye... one is 'rich dad poor dad' and another was (not too sure) ' 7 habits for effective people... something like that lar ... lolz

REMINDER:- IF ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE ME PRESENT ....DON'T EVER EVER EVER BUY A BOOK
WHY? :- BECAUSE BOOKS BECOME MY OBSESSION ONLY FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD, THEN I STOP READING...
CONCLUSION :- DONT BUY!!!

Then we went our separate ways :P :P :P

Next planned outing,
When :- Saturday
Where :- Muar
Mission :- EAT OTAK-OTAK :P
Vision :- Enjoy food
Benefits :- Forge, instill and enhance our 'together-ness' ...lol

Keep intouch :P

IF by Rudyard Kipling

IF
By Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

updatez^^

updatezzz~~~

My parents bought me a 2nd hand car for my use in university - so that I dont have to walk in and out of university ^^

I bought a coat for myself... parents paid for it though :P

It has been about a month already that I've not been studying , another 1 month to go :P
My life is all about eating and sleeping these days^^
sleep ALL day and UP all night ~ ruined my biological clock d :(
sometimes I feel that I am wasting my life away, but I need time "off" :P ... maybe too much d..
I spoil myself... haha

I went for NPC/NAC ~ met some new 'friends'

and going for NATCON on the 20th - 26th June 08
Skipping my cousin's wedding for it ... He's getting married on the 21st

Trying to think, meditate, clear my head, appreciate, and do all my "mojo" lolz...
answering questions of "life" ... I do get it wrong sometimes ...so have to keep on thinking

I WANNA TAKE BACK MY WORDS,WORDS THAT I TOLD MELVIN
~about not dwelling on death
** I think we should think of death, ponder on it yet not dwell too long on it
because life is a journey, not the destination. Death, heaven, hell and judgments is our destination, our 'goal'. Thats where we are heading every milisecond of every day. We should keep death in mind so that it serves as a reminder, warning, an encouragement and motivation for us to live life to the fullest, celebrating life as it is.

And my favourite question on friendship... cliche yet always relevant
I don't have a clear cut answer... people come and people go...
some are close , some are not. Sometimes we treasure a person, but that person doesn't
reciprocate that 'love' that we shower upon them... The worst part is we have no control over it. No point forcing ourselves on them,
therefore just let it be, however it is easily said than done...
What we should do is get on with life...
and we sometimes wonder, what if at the end of our lives, we feel empty inside, thinking about these "friends" we've had, and get devastated by it ...
So live life, fill it to the brim, finding meaning and enjoying what you do... so that in the end, we can say to ourselves... I am contented, I am satisfied, and I'm ready to meet the Lord.

I watched NUMB3RS yesterday, I think, and something struck me most... We humans tend to cling on to things... In the series, the guy clinged on to power...fear of losing power, was always fearful because his younger brother (smart ass) overshadowed him. He feared that his 'juniors' he trained would be independent of him, he fear that he, in time to come, will not be needed anymore, that one day his team would be able to function well without him there, without tumbling down. The lesson he learnt was that he should instead be joyful and happy if his team does great at their field work because they are after all his 'product' .
So we should take heed of the lesson learnt. That we should not be afraid of letting go of something in order to embrace something greater. That we should be able to come out of our comfort zone, letting go, not clinging to things, to accept new things.

I have much to learn, I admit.

Shaun^^
